Arkansas Governor Adds 9 More To Disaster Declaration

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has declared a disaster in nine additional counties affected by the weekend's severe weather that caused heavy flooding and left damage throughout the state.

Hutchinson on Tuesday issued disaster declarations for Baxter, Chicot, Crawford, Jackson, Jefferson, Little Rover, Marion, Montgomery and Sebastian counties. His announcement brings to 21 the number of counties where a disaster has been declared.

Hutchinson's office says more counties may be added as damage assessments continue. Several rounds of bad weather that started before Christmas have left two people dead in Arkansas.

The weekend's heavy rainfall has caused major flooding in many areas of the state.
