Arkansas Right To Life Endorses Governor Asa Hutchinson In GOP Primary

In the Republican gubernatorial primary, incumbent Asa Hutchinson has secured an endorsement from Arkansas Right to Life. In a statement, Hutchinson praised the group and touted lengthening waiting periods for women to get an abortion, parental consent laws, and blocking Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood.

“It is an honor to receive the support of such a strong voice for the most vulnerable among us. I believe, as does Arkansas Right to Life, that unborn children deserve to be protected. In my first term, we have strengthened waiting periods and parental consent laws, as well as successfully blocked Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood. My record as Governor has been 100% Pro-Life, and I will continue to lead with these principles in my second term.”

His primary opponent, Jan Morgan, also describes herself as a pro-life candidate. Her website’s policy statement echoes the governor’s beliefs, “I am Pro-Life.  We must continue working to protect the unborn and ensure that groups like Planned Parenthood do not receive taxpayer money.”
