Forecasters Warn Of Major Flooding From Arkansas Rainfall

Flooding is expected throughout parts of Arkansas as repeated rounds of rainfall are predicted to drop up to 10 inches of rain in some areas by Monday.

The National Weather Service says a large part of central and northeast Arkansas, including the Little Rock area, will see 5 to 7 inches of rain through the weekend. Seven to 10 inches of rain are possible in the Ouachita and Ozark Mountain areas of the state.

Forecasters say moderate to major flooding is likely because of all the rain. The weather service is urging holiday travelers to not drive across flooded roadways.

A flash flood watch has been issued for the northwestern part of the state, beginning late Friday and running until Sunday night.
