Working building an expansion to the Pulaski County Detention Center has been finished and inmates are being moved in this week.

Wednesday afternoon, KUAR’s Kezia Nanda got a look at the facility.  You can listen to her report above.

The facility has offices for deputies, a visitation room, classroom and six large cells, each with 40 beds and a bathroom.

Sheriff Doc Holladay said the expansion was financed by Pulaski County’s general fund without taxes being raised.

Several doctors are voicing their opposition to a medical marijuana proposal that will be on the ballot next month.

Members with the Physician Coalition Against Medical Marijuana spoke Wednesday afternoon in Little Rock saying marijuana has not been adequately researched.

Dr. David Smith with Baptist Health Medical Center says he deals with patients suffering from pain and death everyday and doesn’t believe this is the solution.

Ground was broken today across from the River Market in Little Rock for a new project called Arcade.

The three story, $18 million building is being constructed by Moses Tucker Real Estate in partnership with the Central Arkansas Library System. Jimmy Moses, the developer, hopes the building will be completed by November of next year.
