Metalpoint artist Marjorie Williams-Smith was born in Washington, D.C.where she started out with pencils and watercolors. As she grew up she spent hours drawing. Marjorie studied art in college at Howard University and worked as a graphic designer in New York before meeting her husband, Aj Smith.
