The trial is under way in El Dorado for an Arkansas woman charged with stealing horses and equipment from the Southern Arkansas University rodeo team stables in Magnolia.
Wendi Cox faces multiple theft charges in connection with the Nov. 3, 2011, theft of five horses, a trailer and tack.
The Banner-News reports Cox is the mother of Jaci Jackson, a former rodeo team member charged with theft for the same incident.
Jackson and Cox also face animal cruelty charges in Oklahoma, where a horse named Credit Card was found dead with its throat slashed.
During opening statements, Cox's attorney said jurors must focus on only the theft from SAU - and not the animal cruelty case in Oklahoma.
Attorney John Stroud said Cox was not involved in the theft.
