The murder trial of an eight-time parole absconder is being delayed until April.
Darrell Dennis is charged with capital murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery in the May 10 death of 18-year-old Forrest Abrams.
He was arrested less than 30 hours after being released from the Pulaski County jail where he was being held on an absconder warrant.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza on Tuesday agreed to postpone the trial from Feb. 3 until April 30 to give Dennis' new attorney more time to prepare for the case. Dennis didn't speak during the brief appearance.
The revelation that Dennis has a lengthy history of violating parole led to a review of the state parole system, a change in leadership and several policy changes.
