Arkansas AG Hopeful Leslie Rutledge Seeks Return To Voter Rolls

Michael Hibblen

Republican attorney general hopeful Leslie Rutledge is asking election officials to reinstate her Arkansas voter registration after she was removed from the rolls for also being registered out of state.

Rutledge on Thursday asked Pulaski County Clerk Larry Crane to reverse his decision this week to cancel her voter registration, saying she followed his staff's instructions when she returned to Arkansas from Virginia.

Rutledge filled out a change of address form rather than a new voter registration, which Crane said didn't indicate she was registered in other states.

Crane said he and the county attorney were reviewing Rutledge's request and would respond to it quickly. The deadline to register for the November election is Monday. Rutledge is running against Democratic state Rep. Nate Steel.
