The Garland County attorney says he doesn't expect that a challenger to Hot Springs Mayor Ruth Carney will be able to prove that problems with last month's election were so great that the results should be overturned.
County Attorney Ralph Ohm told the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record that City Director Pat McCabe would have to prove errors were willfully made.
Carney defeated McCabe by 40 votes - increasing her margin in a recount Monday. McCabe says it appears some city voters weren't given ballots that included the mayor's race. He has said he wants to find out more about ballot problems before conceding.
Ohm said the number of people who may have received the wrong ballot is very small - and unlikely enough for McCabe to overcome a 40-vote margin.
