Gov. Asa Hutchinson is sending hundreds of state workers home as a snowstorm rolls through Arkansas.
Meteorologists predicted 2-3 inches of snow could fall in central and western Arkansas on Monday. The highest amounts were predicted for the Ouachita Mountains.
Several school districts shuttered their doors for the day, and Southern Arkansas University at Magnolia canceled classes at 10 a.m. amid a winter storm warning.
Little Rock state offices opened with a 2-hour delay, but the governor closed them by 1 p.m. State workers outside of Little Rock were told to check with their supervisors on whether they could leave.
A winter weather advisory was posted until 6 p.m. Monday for much of Arkansas. A winter storm warning for Texarkana and Magnolia was in effect until 9 p.m.
