The city of Little Rock has contracted the Public Safety System company to track false alarm calls more effectively.
Residents can expect a fine of $25 to $500 after three false alarm emergency calls to the city’s communications center.
Little Rock's Treasury Manager, Scott Massanelli, says 95 percent of the city’s 30,000 annual emergency calls are false alarms, mostly triggered by monitored security systems.
"We waste a lot of resources going out to investigate. Of course we have to investigate but you know, usually it happens to the same locations over and over again," he said.
The company will make a commission on fines. Residents will be able to log in online to view call activity from their addresses.
