Arts Scene: Artist Louise Mandumbwa

Louise Mandumbwa hails from Francistown in the sub-Saharan nation of Botswana, and the impact of her upbringing is apparent in her works of art.

Mandumbwa creates stunning portraits, primarily of African subjects, with an emphasis on the stories told by the dynamic expressions of the human face.

Now a student at the University of Central Arkansas, Mandumbwa's works reflect her perspective being raised in a place she calls "paradise."

You can see some of Mandumbwa's work at Hearne Fine Art located on Wright Avenue in Little Rock.

Mandumbwa spoke with Arts Scene's Ann Nicholson about how her early experience with diversity and her goal to bring representation to the constantly changing places and people we might not be exposed to otherwise.
