Arts Scene: Conductor Geoffrey Robson/Director Steve Broadnax III

This week on Arts Scene, we focus on two shows at Arkansas Repertory Theatre; one, a staging of Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly, the other, a modern stage play: Native Gardens by playwright Karen Zacarias.

First, we speak with Arkansas Symphony Associate Conductor Geoffrey Robson about his role conducting Opera In The Rock's production of one of Puccini's best-known operatic works. Then, Steve H. Broadnax III tells us about his vision for The Rep's next production; bringing his experience in the theatre world (including a stint as director of theatre programs at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) back to his hometown of Little Rock.

Madama Butterfly will have two performances on May 17 and 19, and Native Gardens will run from April 17 to May 5, with an opening night set for April 19.
