On Their Own Terms, a show of black artists from the mid-1800s to present, was on display at the UA Little Rock Windgate Center of Art + Design from Jan. 17 to March 10, 2019.
The exhibit feautres works by 37 African-American artists, including Delita Martin; whose piece The Dinner Table invites visitors to take a seat with portraits of women who've had an impact on the artist. It also features works by landscape and still life artists Robert Duncanson and Charles Porter, some of which are on loan from UA Little Rock Basketball Coach Darrell Walker.
Arts Scene's Ann Nicholson spoke with Windgate Center Gallery Director Brad Cushman about the culmination of years of work in the exhibit with pieces on loan from private collectors across the country.
