An Arkansas legislative committee is scheduled to hear from the state's top economic official.

The Joint Committee on Economic and Tax Policy will meet at the state Capitol Wednesday at 2 p.m. for a presentation on the state's general revenue forecast from Department of Finance and Administration Director Larry Walther.

State officials released the April revenue report Monday, which showed a surge in tax collections in nearly every major category.

DFA officials say the state's net available revenue in April totaled $624 million, which is $53.8 million higher than the same month last year and $82.4 million above forecast.

The state's revenue for the fiscal year that began July 1 totals $4.3 billion, which is $163.8 million above forecast, according to Monday's report.
