NPR Launches Year-End Giving Campaign

Together with more than 900 NPR Member stations across the country, NPR brings the news to anyone, everywhere—making local stories national, national stories global, and global stories personal. To bring these stories to life, NPR relies on the contributions of listeners. This Giving Tuesday, fans and listeners are invited to come together and support NPR stations through a year-end giving campaign called #WhyPublicRadio.

Beginning November 28, NPR will encourage listeners to support their local NPR station. In podcasts, on the NPR website, in e-mail, on social media, and on the NPR One app, fans will be asked to donate to their station of choice on NPR is actively collaborating with a small group of leading stations to plan this fundraising effort.

On social media, NPR fans are encouraged to express their love for public radio and why they chose to donate to a public radio station using the hashtag #WhyPublicRadio.

Giving Tuesday has become a force for good that non-profit organizations draw on as a channel for driving various causes. The #WhyPublicRadio campaign is an opportunity for NPR to rally support from avid listeners as a way of funding meaningful public service built on outstanding journalism and in-depth human stories.

All year long, listeners have relied on NPR to hear, see, and feel the stories that matter. Listeners power that journalism, and together, we make the public radio community strong. As we reflect on 2017's busy news cycle, we look ahead and to each other.
