Suspect's Wife Takes Witness Stand In Murder Trial Of Real Estate Agent

The estranged wife of the man charged with capital murder and kidnapping in the death of an Arkansas real estate agent has told a jury the couple decided to kill the woman because they didn't want to get caught.

Crystal Lowery told jurors Thursday that her husband Arron Lewis had killed Beverly Carter in 2014. She says she had asked him to leave her home and that she agreed to help with the kidnapping to help him raise enough money to move out.

Lowery described surveillance she says Lewis did on a house in west Little Rock before settling on Carter as a victim. She read a series of texts between her and Lewis about there being too many cameras at the house. She said the couple targeted a real estate agent because they often work alone and make a lot of money.
