The former campaign manager for Donald Trump’s presidential bid will be speaking at the annual convention of the Republican Party of Arkansas this weekend. Corey Lewandowski and conservative commentator Candace Owens are scheduled to be special guests at the gathering which is taking place in Benton.

State party spokesman Stephen Houserman said in an email that party members are eagerly anticipating both guests.

"With Corey’s experience as the 2016 campaign manager for Donald Trump and author of ‘Let Trump Be Trump,’ he can provide great insight into how that campaign manifested into a movement for Americans who were tired of the status quo," Houserman said.

Lewandowski was fired from the Trump campaign team in June 2016 before then-candidate Trump secured the Republican nomination. He was recently dropped by a Washington D.C. speaker’s bureau due to his comments on live television regarding child-separation at the U.S.-Mexico border. Owens is known for her pro-Trump rhetoric and her comments regarding the Black Lives Matter movement.

Houserman expects upwards of 200 people to attend the welcome party and 600 at the convention.

"Attendees will be in high spirits and motivated because Republicans are moving Arkansas forward into new great heights," said Houserman.

The Republican Party currently holds the majority of seats in the Arkansas General Assembly.

Convention attendees are to discuss what actions the party will take in the future.
