Survey Crews To Seek Twister Damage In Arkansas

severe weather

Survey crews from the National Weather Service will fan out across Arkansas to look for signs of tornado damage.

A number of severe thunderstorms hit the state Wednesday in Arkansas's first severe-weather outbreak of the spring.

Forecasters say it appeared some twisters touched down in north-central Arkansas; some injuries were reported.

Among the areas to be surveyed Thursday are near Botkinburg and Scotland in Van Buren County, and also Horseshoe Bend, Mount Olive and west of Mountain View.

According to forecasters, damage was also reported in Montgomery County and in southeastern Arkansas. Lightning triggered house fires near Pangburn and Searcy in White County.
