Special Features

UALR Public Radio produces several special features that air at various times throughout the day and educate our listeners on interesting topics. 

Below are some of the special features you may have heard on the air: 

Arkansas Civil War 150 - explores the history of the Civil War in Arkansas during its 150th anniversary. The reports are designed to explain what was happening in the state during the same month 150 years earlier. The series is written and hosted by Mark Christ of the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission. 

Arkansas's Health Story - This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the Arkansas Department of Health. To mark the anniversary, KUAR is airing 1-minute features throughout the day on various issues in public health.

Arkansas Moments - explores the history of the civil rights movement in Arkansas with Chair of the History Department at UALR, John Kirk.

Arkansas Trails - a series on hiking, biking, and paddling in the Natural State. The series is created by Johnnie Chamberlin, the author of Trails of Central Arkansas and Trails of Little Rock

Being Human - explores topics in anthropology and is created by faculty from the UALR Anthropology Program.

Facts About Fiction - explores the true lives of authors who write fiction with Bradly Minnick of the UALR English Department.

Notes on Music - presents interesting facts about classical music with Dr. Ray Moore, Professor Emeritus of Music and former Director of Choral Studies at UALR.

Picture This - discusses various art topics, from architecture to photography, with UALR Art Department Gallery Director Brad Cushman. 

Rockefeller Moments - remembers Governor Winthrop Rockefeller's impact on Arkansas with Chair of the History Department at UALR, John Kirk.
