The Buffalo River, America's first national river, flows 150 miles through northern Arkansas from its headwaters in the heart of the Boston Mountains to its confluence with the White River not far from Mountain Home.
The river and surrounding parkland offer numerous recreational opportunities including hiking, horseback riding, backpacking, and camping.
There's also fishing, birdwatching, and of course paddling ranging from serious whitewater to relaxing floats suitable for beginners and inner tubers.
You can find detailed information on the Buffalo River and many other great floats around the state on the Arkansas Canoe Club's website: www.arkansascanoeclub.com.
