Community Development Minute: Improving Neighborhoods

The goals of a community development organization include increasing property values, improving housing conditions, and expanding neighborhood infrastructure to benefit residents.

Since 2008 the UDDC, in the area around UA Little Rock, has built and sold 7 new, energy star efficient homes along the 2600 block of Adams and 5200 block of 29th Street; rehabilitated 4 properties on South Harrison and W. 28th Streets; and installed over 12 blocks of sidewalks along the Harrison Corridor. These projects have encouraged residents, drawn investors to the area, and provided safer spaces for physical activity.

These projects are possible through partnership with federal programs, the City of Little Rock, and organizations in the district. You can learn more about how the UDDC and other community development corporations can accomplish these goals at uddclittlerock.org.
