Evening to Heal a Heart

February is American Heart Month, and love is in the air! So too is another opportunity to heighten the awareness of Heart Disease, Cancer, and to heal the hearts of victims, survivors, and families affected by violent crime, chronic illness, and other tragic loss. The month that we observe Black History, and valentines, the Center will celebrate the heart by connecting you to culinary delights and soulful sounds sure to please and to help us continue to heal the hearts of many.

The Center for Healing Hearts & Spirits will host its 18th Annual Evening to Heal a Heart Black Tie Gala highlighting “Healthy Hearts, Healthy Communities on Thursday, February 16, 2023 6:30 p.m. ‘til 9:00 p.m. at the Leodis and Goldie Warren Community Center - Little Rock. Earlier the same day (9 am – 1 pm), a Heal a Heart Symposium will we held at the same location and will be free to the public.

Heart disease is still the leading cause of death in Arkansas. In 2020, Arkansas was ranked fourth in the nation for most heart disease deaths. (Source – CDC)

Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the United States. Each year, over 400,000 people nationwide die from tobacco-related illnesses. In Arkansas, tobacco use claims more than 5,800 lives annually.

The Center for Healing Hearts and Spirits encourages Arkansans who currently smoke and vape to kick the habit as smoking can lead to lung cancer, the number one cancer killer for men and women in the United States.
