A Legacy of Curiosity and Compassion: Honoring Judith K. Faust

Friend. Professor. Social Justice Advocate. Mentor.

These are just a few of the words that those fortunate enough to know Judith K. Faust might use to describe her. She embodied the spirit of a lifelong learner , ever curious, deeply reflective, and called to make a difference in her community.

As an instructor emerita at the UA Little Rock School of Social Work, Judith shaped the minds of big hearts and change makers. Her academic background in journalism, philosophy, and social work reflected the way she moved through the world, intellectually curious, ethically grounded, and community driven. Whether through direct youth services or systemic nonprofit development, Judith was a true chameleon of social impact. She was also a fierce advocate for civil rights and social justice, inspiring her community with unwavering integrity, courage, and compassion.

Judith also understood the power of an informed community. Her relationship with KUAR was personal and purposeful. She listened daily, engaged deeply with the stories shared, and found alignment with our mission to deepen insight into the human experience, empower decision making, and enrich the lives of those we serve.

With the establishment of the Judith K. Faust Endowment for Journalism, her legacy will live on through fact-based, locally rooted, and community-minded reporting. This $500,000 gift provides a permanent source of funding to strengthen KUAR’s newsroom capacity, support independent journalism, and ensure that the voices and issues of Central Arkansas are covered with care and integrity.

We are deeply honored and grateful. Thank you, Judith. We hope to make you proud.
