The state Game and Fish Commission says more than 220 live animals have been captured at the site of a ruptured ExxonMobil crude oil pipeline in central Arkansas.
The agency said Wednesday that the animals caught at the spill site at Mayflower have been taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Some of the animals have been returned to the wild.
Volunteers have helped scrub the oil off birds, mammals and turtles rescued from near Lake Conway after the March 29 spill.
Game and Fish officials say water samples are still being taken by state environmental officials and ExxonMobil.
The agency says there's no sign of oil having seeped into Lake Conway, though the oil contaminated a cove south of the lake. Sampling also shows no oil in Palarm Creek.
