Open Carry Demonstration Delayed Because of Chick-Fil-A Shooting

Arkansas Carry, the group behind a march in August where attendees openly carried firearms, is postponing its next demonstration in Jonesboro. The death of a 17 year old last week caused by accidentally self-inflicted gun shot wounds at a Chick-Fil-A caused the group to postpone the event until October 6th.

Arkansas Carry members believe a recently passed state law allows them to openly carry firearms. But Arkansas State Police director Stan Witt and Attorney General Dustin McDaniel have said the law should not be interpreted to mean open carry is legal. But the march in Fort Smith last month was permitted and not hindered by law enforcement authorities.
