Arkansas Court To Hear Arguments About Iraq Veteran

Arkansas' highest court is set to hear oral arguments in the case of an Iraq War veteran convicted of killing his girlfriend.

The state Supreme Court will hear arguments in 32-year-old Steven Russell's case on Thursday.

Russell was convicted of capital murder in the 2009 death of Joy Owens and was sentenced to life in prison without parole last year.

Russell's attorneys say their client suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and deserves a new trial.

Russell's lawyers say prosecutors were allowed to "doctor shop" to find a psychologist who said what the state wanted.

The state, meanwhile, wants Arkansas' highest court to affirm Russell's conviction and sentence.
