Jury Deadlocked in Retrial of Former Little Rock Police Officer; Told To Come To Resolution

Josh Hastings
Pulaski Co. Sheriff's Office

A jury is struggling to reach a verdict this hour in the retrial of a former Little Rock police officer charged with manslaughter for shooting a suspect.

It's the second day of deliberations in the trial of 27-year-old Josh Hastings. The jury has been deliberating since 10:20 a.m. and has been sending notes back-and-forth through the courtroom throughout the afternoon.

The jury reported it was deadlocked and Judge Wendell Griffen asked them to come to a resolution.

Hastings and his supporters walked out of the courthouse earlier this afternoon nearly expressionless, while supporters of Bobby Moore III, the 15-year-old boy shot by Hastings at the scene of a car theft, seemed distraught and weary of the process.

The first trial for Hastings in June ended with a hung jury.

Hastings was fired from the force and charged with manslaughter after the shooting in August 2012.
