Buffalo National River Increases Camping Fees

Buffalo National River

Fees for some campground sites along the Buffalo National River have officially increased, effective this week.

The park conducted a comparability study to determine between a 2 and 5 dollar increase for some drive-in and walk-in sites.

Public Information Officer for the national park, Caven Clark, says the fee increases are comparable to other options in the area,  and that camping at the Buffalo River is still a bargain.

"We have to pay our bills too, so the campsites with amenities such as electricity and water, represent high operating costs to the park service. One of the stimulating things for the campground fees was that our electrical fees went up three times a few years back and we've been operating at a considerable loss during that time period," said Clark.

Clark says the park is trying to break even with the new prices. Visit the park's website for more information.
