Forecasters say a narrow band of Arkansas will see some freezing rain through early Monday afternoon before temperatures rise and end the threat.
The Storm Prediction Center predicted the worst to be along Interstate 30 in southwestern Arkansas and then points north of there, to about a line from Fort Smith to Batesville.
The far northern edge of the heaviest precipitation will like be sleet. The freezing precipitation could also extend to the Texas-Arkansas border, and clip a portion of southeastern Oklahoma, but change over to just a cold rain as temperatures rise.
The National Weather Service at North Little Rock issued a statement saying an area from DeQueen and Greenwood east to near Memphis could see ice. It said some utility lines could be threatened.
Arkansas highway officials are reporting ice patches on a number of highways in western Arkansas as a weather system moves across the state.
At mid-morning Monday, slick spots were reported on Interstate 40 from Conway west to the Oklahoma border, and on I-540 between Fort Smith and Fayetteville.
U.S. 71 was also slippery in places from the Louisiana border to north of DeQueen, plus around Greenwood.
Arkansas 7 had ice patches in a stretch from Dover to just north of Jessieville, while U.S. 65 had ice between Conway and Clinton.
In far northern Arkansas, U.S. 412 had ice between Harrison and Mountain Home and also in Springdale. Most of Interstate 30 was clear, though the stretch from Texarkana to Hope had some ice.
