Several thousand additional workers have been brought in by Entergy Arkansas in advance of the pending winter storm which could bring widespread outages.
6,700 workers are coming from neighboring utility companies and will work to restore power to customers as a mix of snow and ice rolls through the state Thursday night and Friday morning.
Entergy spokeswoman Sally Graham said it may take several days for power to be restored, especially in areas of northern Arkansas.
"We are mobilizing this size of a restoration effort because we believe from our models, the forecast and our experience from past storms that it will take five to seven days to restore power to all customers," Graham said. "We are requesting that all customers prepare to be without power for that length of time."
Residents are encouraged to keep track of local weather updates and report outages by calling 1-800-9OUTAGE.
Customers can also report lost power through Entergy's smartphone app, which can be downloaded from Apple and Android stores.
