Pulaski County Special School District Proposes Plan To Upgrade School Buildings

The Pulaski County Special School District says it has a 200 million dollar plan to upgrade and equalize it's school buildings.

The plan includes building two new high schools and improving many more.

Part of the funding would need to come from a property tax increase, with the remaining money pulling from the final year of state desegregation aid.

The plan hinges on whether Jacksonville votes to become its own, new school district before they can move ahead.

The new district would come from part of Pulaski County 's jurisdiction, and would qualify for a significant amount of aid for building renovations. A date for this election has not yet been set.
