Arkansas Lawyer Wanted For Manslaughter Turns Self In

Garland Co. Sheriff's Office

A Hot Springs lawyer who faces manslaughter charges in a man's death from two years ago has surrendered to police.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that 36-year-old Andrea Davis has turned herself in to police Thursday.

Davis will remain in custody until her first appearance in Garland County District Court set for Friday.

Davis and her brother Matthew Davis are charged in the Feb. 29, 2012, shooting death of Maxwell Anderson at Andrea Davis' residence.

Jeff Rosenzweig, Andrea Davis' lawyer, says Matthew Davis would turn himself in later in the day, because he's traveling from out-of-state.

Affidavits obtained by the newspaper suggest inconsistent statements about the death, angry text messages and a hidden stash of methamphetamine prompted investigators to seek the charges.

The documents also said that in the days before he was shot, Anderson had agreed to get Andrea Davis and her brother $1,200 worth of the drug.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel dropped out of the governor's race last year after admitting an inappropriate relationship with Andrea Davis.
