Republican U.S. Sen. John Boozman is speaking to a group of Arkansas business leaders about the federal government's proposed new rules for power plant pollution.
Boozman on Thursday was scheduled to speak at an event held by the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and Associated Industries of Arkansas at the group's downtown Little Rock office.
The group has been holding forums with members of the state's congressional delegation about the proposed rules.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has unveiled a plan to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent by 2030, with 2005 levels as the starting point. The rules are intended to curb global warming. The plan would require Arkansas to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 45 percent by 2030.
