Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor and Republican Rep. Tom Cotton are trying to put a happy face on one of the most bitterly fought Senate races in the country, unveiling a new batch of positive TV ads as they head into the final days of the campaign.

Pryor's campaign on Friday announced four new television ads it would begin airing in the state, while Cotton's announced it would air a 14-minute biographical documentary about the GOP hopeful.

Pryor's campaign said the spots are part of nearly $1 million it's spending between now and election day on TV, while Cotton's said it was initially spending $100,000 to purchase half-hour blocks of time to air the documentary.

Republicans view the race as key to winning a majority in the Senate.
