UAPB Reports Sharp Increase In Student Enrollment

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff says overall student enrollment is up by 6.1 percent this year. The increase includes a 38.1 percent jump in enrollment by first-time freshmen.

UAPB Chancellor Laurence B. Alexander says enhanced scholarships and the return of the university's nursing program contributed to the increase.

Alexander also cited new science, technology, engineering and math programs and targeted marketing and recruitment efforts as reason for the increase.

This fall, UAPB enrolled 685 first-time freshmen as part of an overall student population of 2,666. Last year, the university had 496 first-time freshmen and a student population of 2,513.
