8th Grader Dies After Passing Out At Little Rock School

The death of an eighth grade girl Tuesday at Robinson Middle School has rocked the entire school community, according to the Pulaski County Special School District.

PCSSD Superintendent Jerry Guess said the female student was standing in the gym when she became unconscious. Several adults were present at the time, and the girl was administered CPR then taken to a local hospital.

Guess said the girl unexpectedly passed away. Her name has not yet been released and the cause of her death is undetermined.

Guess released the following statement to Channel 7:

The Pulaski County School District is saddened by the death yesterday of a female eighth-grade student. Our student, who attended Robinson Middle School, became unexpectedly unconscious while standing in the gymnasium in the presence of multiple adults. She was administered CPR and transported to a local hospital. The district wants to respect the privacy of the family and is limiting its comments. Right now, the focus of the district, school and Robinson community is on supporting this family as well as the staff and students at the middle school. Extra counselors are available at the school this week as we move forward together during this time of great loss.
