Much of Arkansas is experiencing drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. While northern Arkansas counties remain abnormally dry, the Southern half of the state is in extreme drought.
David Maxwell, director of the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, said wildfires are a risk until the state gets rain.
“A lot of counties have burn bans on. We're continuing to monitor along with the Forestry Commission and trying to make sure we're as prepared as we can be," he said.
Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and the Western part of the United States are experiencing drought conditions.
