System Could Bring Thunderstorms, High Winds To Arkansas

The National Weather Service says powerful thunderstorms are in the forecast for Arkansas on Wednesday with strong winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes a possibility.

Forecasters say the best chance for stormy weather will be in the afternoon and evening hours. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, says nearly all the state is at a slight risk for severe weather, but the most powerful storms are expected farther north in Iowa, Missouri and Illinois.

The National Weather Service says central and east Arkansas are at the greatest risk for severe weather Wednesday, including the Little Rock area.

The storm system should move out by Thursday, but forecasters say there's the potential for more severe weather early next week.
