A service that tracks gasoline prices says the per-gallon cost of a gallon in Arkansas has risen eight cents in the past week, to an average of $1.90.
In Little Rock, the price averaged $1.89. That price is down 34 cents from a year ago and down nearly two dollars from five years ago.
An analyst for GasBuddy says prices climbed in 49 of 50 states last week amid speculation the price of crude oil would rise after a meeting of oil producers in Qatar during the weekend. Patrick DeHaan said that, without an agreement to cut crude production, prices could fall rather than continue a typical spring rise.
Gasoline prices in Memphis, Tennessee, were also at $1.89, and at $1.86 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Nationally, prices averaged $2.11 per gallon.
