Science Cafe Little Rock: Climate Change

Climate change is a complex, anxiety-inducing topic. But where are we now, and what does it mean for our future?

Our guest is Maureen McClung, Associate Professor of Biology and Chair of the Environmental Studies program at Hendrix College in Conway.

Throughout her education, she studied Yellow-eyed Penguins in New Zealand, tamarin monkeys in the Amazon, and birds in the forests of the Ozark Mountains. At Hendrix, she and her students investigate questions related to the impacts of man-made noise on wildlife behavior and how energy development affects natural landscapes.

She also collaborates with local conservation groups like Audubon, Natural Heritage, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to promote conservation across the state and connect students to careers in conservation.

McClung shares her expertise in ecology and conservation biology to explain how human impact is shaping our climate.
