COVID-19 hospitalizations reported Monday set a new record in Arkansas, rising by 31 to 1,371, according to the state Department of Health. The number of available Intensive Care Unit beds statewide fell from 44 on Sunday to 43 on Monday.
The report showed 1,268 confirmed and probable cases, bringing the cumulative total to 256,344. Deaths rose by 38 to reach 4,081. Active confirmed and probable cases fell by 1,958, to settle at 25,534.
“Today’s report of 31 additional hospitalizations will add to the load of our health care workers. The better news in the new cases are starting to slow somewhat. Let’s work toward a true downward trend,” Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in a statement. On Tuesday the governor will give his weekly press briefing on the pandemic, which will be broadcast live on KUAR beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The top five counties with new known cases reported Monday were: Benton (154), Washington (149), Pulaski (146), Sebastian (86), and Garland (69). The counties accounted for 47.6% of the 2,944 new confirmed and probable cases.
As of Monday at 3:30 p.m., there were 22,529,399 U.S. cases and 375,350 deaths. Globally, there were 90,695,701 cases and 1,941,143 deaths.
