Almost 16,000 vaccines were administered in Arkansas in the past 24 hours, the state Department of Health said Thursday, while active COVID-19 cases are down significantly week-over-week. 25 deaths were reported, with 21 confirmed to be from the disease while four were probable.
The department's report Thursday showed 1,103 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, well below the 2,496 reported on the previous Thursday. The cumulative total rose to 311,043. Total testing in the past 24 hours was 13,087, below the 14,850 reported the previous Thursday.
Active confirmed and probable cases fell by 672 to 13,518, which was 20.4% below the 16,992 active cases on the previous Thursday. Deaths rose by 26 to 5,199. Hospitalizations fell by 23 to 712, below the 815 on the previous Thursday. The ADH also reported 91 available ICU beds as of 2 p.m. Thursday, up from 82 on Wednesday.
The state has received 621,075 vaccines since federal distribution began Dec. 14, including 19,000 in the past 24 hours. Vaccines administered in the previous 24 hours rose by 15,875 to 420,570, or 67.7% of vaccines received. The federal program in which CVS and Walgreens is managing vaccinations in nursing homes and other long term care facilities has received 49,400 vaccines since Dec. 28. Vaccines administered in the past 24 hours rose by 386 to 21,564, or 43.7% of vaccines received.
The Arkansas Center for Health Improvement reported that 102 Arkansas school districts have COVID-19 infection rates of 50 or more new known infections per 10,000 district residents over a 14-day period, down from 128 a week ago. Of those districts, seven have 14-day COVID-19 infection rates of 100 or more new known infections per 10,000 district residents, or more than 1% of local residents, the same number as last week. The infections are among community residents living within the geographical boundaries of the school districts and are not specific to school employees and students.

The top five counties with new known cases reported Thursday were: Pulaski (178), Benton (90), Washington (60), Saline (57), and Sebastian (52). The counties accounted for 39.6% of the 1,103 new confirmed and probable cases.
As of Thursday at 4:30 p.m., there were 27,366,838 U.S. cases and 474,554 deaths. Globally, there were 107,648,109 cases and 2,363,449 deaths.
