Last week, the Congress voted on a continuing resolution that will keep the government funded until September, according to NPR News.
Both Arkansas Republican Senators Tom Cotton and John Boozman voted to approve the continuing resolutions. Despite voting for the resolution, Boozman said, in an interview with Arkies in the Beltway, that he doesn’t agree with the approach of the federal government.
“CR’s are terrible and the omnibus bills you throw together in a week are terrible, but the only thing worse are government shutdowns,” Boozman said.
The continuing resolution will increase defense spending by $6 billion and decrease non-defense spending by $13 billion. U.S Rep. French Hill, R-Little Rock, also voted in support of the continuing resolution. In an interview with Arkies in the Beltway, Hill said the continuing resolution was a step in the right direction.
According to NPR News, House Democrats did not support the continuing resolution because they believed the resolution would allow Elon Musk, adviser to Trump, to continue to make funding cuts to the government without any oversight.
A federal judge in Washington has ordered Elon Musk and his team at DOGE to produce records of his involvement in firings of federal workers and cuts to government programs, according to the New York Times.
