An exhibit up now at Hearne Fine Art in Little Rock is tackling the issue of book banning past and present. Artist Loni Harshaw was inspired to keep authors alive on canvas, even if their work is at risk of being stricken from the record. She says silencing Black and LGBT+ stories is a move to erase histories, cultures and to control a narrative.

"The person who controls what we read or study in school is the person that controls history, right, so if you aren't able to share those stories or that experience through printed paper and be able to distribute it, then it's easier to say it never happened.”
