A new novel looks at the history of birth control in the U.S., through the lens of a fictional 17-year-old girl growing up in 1930s Arkansas.

“Covered Buttons” is the debut novel from Stephanie Saunders, a North Arkansas native and professor of Spanish at Lyon College in Batesville.

Little Rock Public Radio’s Daniel Breen caught up with Saunders ahead of her author talk Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Paper Hearts Bookstore in Little Rock’s Pettaway neighborhood.
