Since 2012, Opera In The Rock has served Arkansas as the state's only professional opera company. But now, like all arts organizations, they're having to adapt to a wildly different way of life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While we're all still doing our best to flatten the curve, OITR is still ensuring that the sights and sounds of the opera are accessible to central Arkansans; streaming their season-opening performance of Giacomo Puccini's "Madama Butterly" featuring soprano Francesca Mondanaro online from June 12 through 14.
Opera In The Rock Executive & Artistic Director Kate Sain returns to the Arts Scene this week to talk about the event, and their plans for next season: Derrick Wang's "Scalia/Ginsburg," Gaetano Donizetti's "Anna Bolena," and "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak.
