A lawyer representing Arkansas Treasurer Dennis Milligan in a potential ethics complaint investigation has recused himself, citing a conflict of interest.
Benton attorney Jonathan Camp confirmed in an email that he is no longer representing Milligan. Attorney and blogger Matt Campbell filed a 113-page complaint against Milligan last week, citing 14 separate allegations of campaign finance and misuse of public resources.
The Arkansas Ethics Commission does not comment on whether complaints have been received or are being investigated.
Treasurer's office spokesman Grant Wallace worked on Milligan's campaign. Speaking on his personal cell phone Wednesday, Wallace said Camp is also representing the relative of a potential witness in the complaint in a separate lawsuit, creating a conflict.
Wallace says Milligan had not hired a new attorney as of Wednesday.
