'State Of The Art' To Be Sceened Locally Before Making National PBS Debut

State of the Art

A new documentary film called “State of the Art” will make its Little Rock premier Saturday night with a free screening at the Ron Robinson Theater before being aired nationally on PBS. It was produced by AETN and Arkansas award-winning filmmakers Craig and Brent Renaud.

The documentary looks at an exhibit at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art of the same name that featured 102 contemporary artists and was on display at the museum between 2014 and 2015. The filmmakers followed an effort of artistic discovery going to more than 1,000 desitations to meet with under-recognized American artists.

The one hour film will be aired nationally on April 26 on PBS. AETN Executive Director Courtney Pledger spoke with KUAR News about the documentary, which can be heard below.

You can learn more about Saturday night’s event on AETN's website.

Michael Hibblen was a journalist for KUAR News from May 2009 — December 2022. During his final 10 years with the station, he served as News Director. In January 2023, he was hired by Arkansas PBS to become its Senior Producer/ Director of Public Affairs.
