A new compounding pharmacy is now fully open in Little Rock. LRock RX hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday at its newly opened location, 7321 Cantrell Road in Little Rock.
Roxanne Novak is the pharmacy’s general manager. She said compounding pharmacies allow providers to serve patients with specific needs, saying healthcare is not “one size fits all.”
“Whether we’re adjusting medication dosages, taking out allergens of medications, or making sure it’s a form that works for your dog, cat, or baby, we here at LRock are excited to continue the mission of personalized compounded medications.” Novak said. “We do believe and we are passionate that this type of healthcare along with the patient and healthcare providers relationship truly puts people on the path of better health.”
Compounding creates a custom-made medication for patients with allergies or unique dosage needs. These pharmacies can fill specialized prescriptions without ingredients like dyes or additives, or give patients medications in a form easier to ingest. Novak said LRock RX serves both human and animal patients.
Novak said she was excited to open her business in Little Rock, calling it a city embodying the values of community, innovation, and collaboration.
“Every patient is unique as we are as humans or as animals, and their treatment should be as well. That’s why we are committed to providing customized medication solutions that meet the needs of the patients and the providers servicing their care,” Novak said.
Novak thanked her employees for working long hours and giving their “tears and sweat” to make LRock RX’s opening a success.
“It’s taken a shared vision, hard work, and absolute unwavering dedication from a committed and passionate team here at LRock RX to do what we have done over the last several months.”
Jay Chesshir, CEO of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, said Little Rock’s position in the healthcare sphere is due to efforts from industry professionals and investors such as tech entrepreneur James Hendren.
“It’s amazing that that continues to happen in Little Rock.” Chesshir said.
Clint O'Neal is the executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. He said seeing the work of entrepreneurs come to fruition “never gets old.”
“You’ll read in the press release that LRock RX is creating up to a hundred jobs in the coming years,” O’Neal said, adding economic development means more than watching numbers grow.
“Each one of the jobs that you’ll create represents a family that can have a better life for themselves right here in Arkansas.”
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. rounded out the cast of speakers, saying the opening marks a “big day” for the city.
“We represent the healthcare mecca in the state, we also understand that 25% of the state’s GDP comes from healthcare.” Scott said. “Healthcare is the nexus of both education and economic development, it not only sustains our city, it helps our city to thrive.”
Novak said LRock RX released their first prescription on August 12th of this year. Monday, the pharmacy launched its first injectable sterile product.
